I started to watch The Walk with a tiny bit of apprehension. I guess a lot of people may feel the same way as we now only have one picture in our minds of the Twin Towers.
But there was a time, in 1974, when the World Trade Center was the scene of an amazing feat of human endeavour. A crazy young French guy decided to walk a tightrope from the top of one tower to the other.
Anyone who ever had the opportunity to stand on the top of the towers and look down, as I was fortunate enough to do, can only be awestruck at the strength of will required to make that walk.
Philippe Petit had no permission, no professional riggers and nothing else put pure determination. Philippe is played with great feeling by the increasingly wonderful Joseph Gordon Levitt who really gets into the soul of the mad Frenchman.
This is a great uplifting movie I would highly recommend.
