Mel Gibson is Blood Father and it looks good trailer

I think back in the 80s we all loved Mel Gibson he had a magnetic screen presence and made some great movies. then somewhere along the line he decided he would destroy his own career with so-so movies, religious extremism and lots of booze.

In my opinion he came back with the very underrated Get the Gringo

If you havn’t seen it take a look at the trailer you may like it

And now he is treading similar action ground with the August release Blood Father. The story looks like something we have seen lots of times before. Deadbeat dad try’s to save his long lost daughter from evil drug dealers.

But it does have a bit of that magic that Gibson used to produce without any effort, take a look for yourself.

  1. Yeah I dug this a lot. No real proof if it’s got a good story but Gibson still has that charisma and he’s acting his age. It’s excitingly cut and looks good plus goes meta with Gibson apologising for the past. Gibson doing revenge for family attack has been done, let’s see, in Mad Max, Lethal Weapon 2, Hamlet (out of all of Shakespeare’s play it had to be Hamlet), Braveheart, Ransom, kinda Payback, The Patriot, Edge of Darkness and now this. Should be right up his alley.

  2. I had not thought about Gibson doing the story before I was just talking in general, but you are correct it is not exactly new ground for him. I hope it is good I have seen Get the Gringo 2 or 3 times its a good ‘Lethal Weapon’ type movie, at least in the wise cracking one liners and action style that Gibson was so good at in the 80s
