This trailer is now 30 years old … ouch
There is still something effortlessly charming about Matthew Broderick as the super cool Ferris Bueller a kid who just wants a day off school.
Despite the teen related premise of the movie, the trailer shows how wide the actual appeal of the movie was. The trailer builds relentlessly becoming more extreme as it goes, the same as the movie. It managed to pull in adult audiences not just the teens it was originally aimed at, and the trailer must have paid a large part in the idea that this was a funny and fun movie.
Ferris cost $6 million to make and grossed over $70 million in the US alone. On top of this, it was a huge video rental hit for many years.
