Suicide Squad director David Ayer fires back over bad reviews

Suicide Squad: Dawn of Dullness.

Suicide Squad director David Ayer is firing back over some truly scathing reviews for his baddie team-up movie.

Digital Spy and many publications roundly panned DC Entertainment’sBatman v Superman rebound film – with critics dismissing it as “overstuffed”, “unsatisfying” and even dubbing it Suicide Squad: Dawn of Dullness.

As the avalanche of bad reviews poured in, Ayer replied somewhat quizzically by tweeting: “Prefiero morir de pie que vivir de rodillas – Emiliano Zapata.”

For those non-Spanish speakers, the quote from Mexican revolutionary Emiliano Zapata roughly translates in English to: “I’d prefer to die on my feet than to live on my knees.”

We probably should have expected a fiery comeback from Ayer – who had to apologise earlier in the week for screaming “f**k Marvel” at a Suicide Squad screening. Spoke too soon, David?
